It\u2019s the schooner<a href=\"https:\/\/magicandsailing.com\/en\/ships\/aphrodite\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/magicandsailing.com\/barcos\/aphrodite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Aphrodite<\/a>. And although many know it for its sunsets, by day it offers a different experience that\u2019s well worth mentioning.  <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fe48e5de wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-75 is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size has-custom-font-size wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/magicandsailing.com\/en\/ships\/aphrodite\/?utm_source=excursion&#038;utm_medium=en_aphrodite\" style=\"border-radius:0px;background-color:#003254\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Book your place on our Aphrodite tour<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What changes when you sail a wooden boat<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stepping aboard a gulet is nothing like stepping aboard a catamaran. The wood creaks a little, the deck smells different, and everything encourages you to slow down. You\u2019re not boarding a mass-produced boat: you\u2019re boarding one that\u2019s been hand-built, piece by piece, in Turkey.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the wind is on our side, we hoist the sails and the engine takes a back seat. That\u2019s when the best part of the day begins: moving forward, hearing nothing but the water and the fabric tightening. It\u2019s not always possible, as it depends on the wind and the state of the sea, but when it happens, it\u2019s an experience you\u2019ll never forget.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A covered area and plenty of space to stretch out, sunbathe with a drink and listen to the sound of the sea in Fuerteventura<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Measuring around 20 metres in length and 7 metres in beam, the Aphrodite has a spacious deck, designed for lounging in the sun and watching the volcanic coastline of Jand\u00eda glide by at a leisurely pace. It can accommodate up to sixty-five people, so it\u2019s a good choice if you\u2019re travelling in a group, but it never feels cramped. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s music on board, although there\u2019s no DJ here (that\u2019s for the evening). The nice thing is that it often ends up being someone from the group\u2019s playlist: if you ask the captain and he\u2019s happy with it, you get to choose the music. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A quick dip, and when you come out, the table is laid out facing the Jand\u00eda coastline<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Halfway through the four-hour trip, we\u2019ll stop so you can take a dip in the Atlantic, with its crystal-clear water that\u2019s so addictive. By the time you get out, the crew will have the table all set. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a proper meal: Mediterranean couscous with roasted vegetables and tzatziki, followed by roast veal loin with herbs, mushroom sauce and potatoes. There\u2019s a v<a href=\"https:\/\/magicandsailing.com\/en\/blog-en\/whats-on-offer-to-eat-and-drink-on-our-excursions-in-fuerteventura\/\">egetarian option and an open bar serving ice-cold cava<\/a>, white and ros\u00e9 wine, beer, soft drinks and water throughout the crossing. The crew have already set the table. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A gulet or a catamaran? There\u2019s no right answer, and you can\u2019t go wrong either way <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re not sure, think about what sort of day you fancy. The catamaran is more modern, very stable and is perfect for anyone looking for maximum comfort. The gulet has soul: wood, sails and that touch of romance you get from a classic boat.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both cruises follow the same beautiful coastline, and on both we keep a lookout for dolphins or whales, which are around here all year round, although we can never guarantee we\u2019ll spot them. It\u2019s a question of character, not class. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you fancy swapping your usual plans for an evening by candlelight on a wooden boat, this is the boat for you.
