As the sun begins to set over the volcanic mountains of Fuerteventura, the port of Morro Jable is transformed. This is when the schooner Aphrodite Sunset casts off for a three-hour cruise that is utterly captivating.
Sailing on a traditional wooden Turkish gulet is a sensory experience in itself, but at sunset, the atmosphere becomes almost surreal. Here, the focus is on ‘chilling out’: carefully selected music to accompany the setting sun, a glass of cava in hand, and the silhouette of the coastline bathed in shades of orange and gold.
It’s the perfect plan if you’re looking for more than just a stroll. It’s a much-needed break. No rushing about, no roaring engines; just the sound of wood, the best company and the daily spectacle of the Majorcan sky. If you’re looking for ‘that moment’ on your holiday, you’re most likely to find it here, sitting on the aft deck of our schooner.
