You’ve more or less planned your day – you want to head out to sea – and suddenly you’re faced with a dilemma: do you spend a couple of hours on it, or do you take the whole morning? It’s not just a question of time. Depending on what you choose, you’ll experience the day in one way or another.
If you’re short on time, two hours will be enough
There are days when you’re already pressed for time, yet you still fancy heading out to spot dolphins. That’s what the Magic Dolphin is for: a quick two-hour trip, with drinks on board, that takes you straight to what you’ve come to see.
It works really well if it’s your first time on a boat and you’re not sure how it’ll go, if you’ve got things to do in the afternoon, or if you’re travelling with someone who prefers a short taster session. You’ll be back on dry land with almost the whole morning still ahead of you.
If you’re in charge of the day, four hours go a long way
When you don’t have to keep an eye on the clock, the sea takes on a different character. On our catamarans’ four-hour trips, there’s time to sail at a leisurely pace, look out for cetaceans at your own pace, drop anchor off the coast of Jandía, take a dip in the sea and sit down to a meal on board with an all-you-can-drink bar.
It’s the full half-day package – the one that leaves you feeling as though you’ve really switched off. If you’re coming with your family or a group, the Magic Select is the most convenient way to get around; if you’re looking for something a bit more exclusive, there are the premium catamarans.
What really changes from one to the other
In two hours, everything revolves around spotting them: heading out, looking for them and enjoying the moment if they turn up. The other four hours are for everything else, which is quite a lot: anchoring, a swim in the Atlantic, lunch and lazing about on deck with nothing to do.
There’s another detail you only notice when you’re out sailing every day: the longer you’re out on the water, the better our chances are of spotting dolphins. It’s no guarantee, because they’re wild and turn up whenever they like, but time is always on our side.
So, which one suits you best?
If you’ve got a busy schedule or want to enjoy the sea without taking up the whole day, go for the two-hour trip. If you’ve got the day off, fancy a swim and a meal on board, and want the day to last a while, go for the four-hour trip.
Neither is better than the other. They are two different ways of experiencing the same sea at Jandía.
