Maritime procession of the Virgin of Carmen in Morro Jable, Fuerteventura. The crew of Magic & Sailing participated in this emotional maritime tradition that fills the sea with faith, boats and community every 16th of July. A tribute to the Atlantic Ocean and the island’s fishing roots, where respect for the sea and local customs are kept alive from generation to generation.

On 16 July, we experienced one of those days that touch the heart. As we do every year, we joined in the celebration of the Virgin of Carmen, patron saint of all sailors, and took our Magic & Sailing boats to the maritime procession in Morro Jable, accompanying the Virgin on the waves.

‘Long live the Virgin of Carmen!’ were the first words I shouted when I saw the sea full of boats following the virgin. An ocean filled with faith and festivity, with people who share the same love for the sea and its traditions.

Sailing alongside so many boats in silence, broken only by the murmur of the waves and the sirens greeting the Virgin, was a moment of unity, respect and gratitude. Morro Jable is not just a port, it is a fishing village with roots that beat to the rhythm of the Atlantic, and every 16th of July it reminds us that we are connected to the sea in a way that goes far beyond work.

As the daughter of sailors and heir to a family legacy that began in these very waters, this day has special meaning for me. It is a day when the mission of Magic & Sailing takes on its full meaning: to offer experiences that connect people with the sea through respect, tradition, and love for what we do.

‘We wish everyone a happy and blessed Carmen Day, and may we continue to love the sea and the traditions of our island for many years to come!’ I wrote on our social media, but today I want to repeat it here, because there is no better wish than that.

Thank you to the team, the sailors, the guilds and the entire community of Fuerteventura for keeping alive a tradition that unites us and reminds us who we are: people of the sea, grateful and proud of our heritage.

Until the next Carmen Day… and until the next wave.
